George B. Kirsch wrote Six Guys From Hackensack to show a different side of young people of the baby boom generation and their experience growing up in New Jersey during the 1950’s and early 1960’s. The six friends are George B. Kirsch, the writer of the book, Henry Cenicola, Kevin Clermont, Barry Cohen, Richard Prager, and Barry Vasios. All are 1963 Hackensack High School graduates. George B. Kirsch mentions the most popular student in the class was George B. Sellarole, who served during Vietnam while none of these young men had served. The draft was not in earnest at the time and they all attended college and were moving forward with family life by the time the war gripped the nation. Written by: |
